Analytics – Google Analytics 4. To understand which pages are read, where visitors come from (for example, a LinkedIn post or a search engine) and which links they follow. Google Analytics collects information such as the pages you view, the time of the visit, your approximate location derived from your IP address, your device, browser and operating system, and the page that referred you. It uses cookies (such as _ga) to recognise a returning browser. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses.
Google Analytics may be configured with advertising features such as Google Signals, which lets Google connect visits with data from users signed in to their Google accounts who have allowed ad personalisation, and which can be used to measure and target advertising. If these features are enabled, the same data described above is used for that purpose.
Advertising measurement – LinkedIn Insight Tag. To measure how visitors from LinkedIn posts and campaigns use the site, to see aggregated professional characteristics of visitors (such as industry or job function, never individual identities) and, where enabled, to build audiences for LinkedIn advertising (retargeting). LinkedIn sets its own cookies for this purpose.
Tag management – Google Tag Manager. Loads the two tools above. Tag Manager itself does not set cookies for this purpose, but it does receive your browser's standard request data, such as your IP address.
Hosting – GitHub Pages. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may log the IP addresses of visitors for security purposes, as described in GitHub's own privacy statement.
Email. If you write to hello@mariascales.com, your email address and message are used only to reply and are kept as long as the conversation needs them.
Analytics and advertising measurement are based on a legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used and how it is found, and on your consent where the law requires it. Replying to an email is based on your request. You can object to analytics at any time (see below).
These providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. They state that they rely on recognised transfer mechanisms, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses. No data is sold to anyone.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data about you is held, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time. Write to hello@mariascales.com. Because this site does not know who you are, most analytics data cannot be linked back to you; requests about it are best sent to Google or LinkedIn directly. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data about them.
